Co-ordinate Conversion - Geographic (Lat, Long) to Plane (Y, X)

This Service allows for the conversion of Geographic (Latitude, Longitude) Co-ordinates to Plane (Y, X) Co-ordinates using the Gauss Conform system as employed in South Africa with parameters for the WGS84 ellipsoid. This Service now supports the new Point Memory function that enables you to save points for further use on this Website during this Session. (Saved data will be lost when this window is closed)

This is useful for GPS users, especially for rough handheld receiver co-ordinate conversions. Another very useful application is the conversion of geographic co-ordinates found in Google Earth by hovering the mouse over a specific point. Once rough Plane co-ordinates for a specific site or control point has been established, control point searches can be done around that co-ordinate for Trig Beacons and Town Survey Marks.

Just as an indication, Geographic Co-ordinates with Seconds specified to an accuracy of 4 decimal places normally yields Plane Co-ordinates with an accuracy of around the centimetre level (2 decimal places of a meter).
